This page has links to two versions of a chart of Green Day song themes.
The left-hand column of the chart lists the Green Day song titles, beginning with the earliest full album release and continuing through to the latest album. The top row has typical themes of Green Day songs, each with its own colour. My goal in making this chart was to show graphically the way the content of the band's songs has changed over time.

The XLS file is clearest to read, but it must be opened with Microsoft Excel.
The PDF file is smaller and not editable, but if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader (free) you can zoom and print it.
Most dramatically, you can see the band have written a number of songs about angst and anger (in red). You can also see how the early songs are not political at all, but politics and satire have come in as additional topics in the later albums.
